One inbox, and people behind it

Everything sent to FOOTBALL INSTANT arrives in one place: support@futbolalinstante.com. We publish no other address and reply from no other address, so any message claiming to come from this publication and arriving from somewhere else deserves suspicion. Forward it to us and we will tell you whether it was genuine. The inbox is read by the editors themselves rather than filtered into a folder nobody opens, and because football happens somewhere at almost every hour, it is checked through the day rather than during one office’s working hours.

A single word at the front of your subject line moves your message to the right queue. When you are writing about a specific article, include its link. Headlines get rewritten after publication; links do not.

Words that route your message

  • CORRECTION: something we published is wrong. Send the link, the exact sentence, figure or scoreline you dispute, and if you have it, the document that settles the point: the club statement, the league communication, the competition regulation, the disciplinary decision, the filed accounts. This is our fastest queue and our corrections policy describes what happens next.
  • TIP: you know something about a transfer, a contract, a club’s finances, an ownership change, a regulatory decision or a competition that has not been reported. Tell us what you know, how you came to know it, and whether we may write back with questions.
  • PRESS: official statements and announcements from clubs, leagues, associations, agencies and competition organisers. Put the statement in the body of the message as plain text. Unsolicited attachments from unknown senders are not opened. A statement starts our reporting and never finishes it.
  • ADVERTISING: display placements and sponsored content. Our advertise page sets out what we run and what we decline, and reading it first saves everyone a week.
  • PRIVACY: your personal data under our privacy policy, including requests to see it or to have it deleted.
  • COPYRIGHT: takedown notices and counter-notices under our DMCA and copyright policy, including match photography and broadcast material.
  • GENERAL: everything else, from arguments with our coverage to the competitions you think we neglect.

What makes a good tip on this beat

A tip with a document behind it is worth ten without one. The registration that appeared in a league list before anyone announced it. The clause in a contract that explains why a fee is being reported two different ways. The squad list submitted with a name missing. The disciplinary decision whose written reasons say something the summary did not. The filed accounts that show a payment structure nobody has described. The circular sent to clubs that has not been published. Screenshots are welcome, with an explanation of where they came from and with anything identifying you or your employer removed before you send them.

Every tip is read. Not every tip can be pursued, and none is published on its own; our fact-checking policy sets out what has to be confirmed before a claim becomes a story. A tip points at a door. Opening it is still our job.

Confidential material

If you work at a club, a league, an association, an agency, a broadcaster or a supplier, and what you want to send could cost you your job or your accreditation, protect yourself first. Write from a personal account on a personal device, never from a work laptop, a work network or a managed phone. Put CONFIDENTIAL at the start of the subject line so the message is treated as sensitive from the moment it arrives, and keep the identifying detail out of the first email. We will reply and agree a safer channel before anything sensitive changes hands. Sources are named to nobody: not to clubs, not to competitions, not to advertisers, not to lawyers. The conditions under which anonymity is granted are set out in our editorial standards, and if protecting you is beyond our means, you will hear that before you send rather than after.

What this inbox is not

FOOTBALL INSTANT reports on football. It is not a club, a league, a federation or a ticket office, and this inbox cannot do any of the things people most often ask of it. We cannot sell or refund tickets, arrange hospitality, obtain a shirt or a signature, forward mail to a player or a manager, arrange a trial, place a player with a club, register a transfer, reverse a suspension, review a refereeing decision or intervene in a dispute between a player and a club. Those requests belong with the organisation concerned, and sending them here only delays you.

We are also not a betting service. We do not offer tips, predictions as guidance, odds or accumulators, we cannot help with a bookmaker dispute or a withdrawal, and messages asking for a selection are deleted without a reply. What this inbox is good for is a story: something documented, something being hidden, or something we published that is wrong.

Players, agents and representation

Agents and intermediaries write to us often, and they are welcome to, provided the terms are understood. Information from a party with an interest in a transfer is reported as information from a party with an interest in that transfer, and we will say so in the text. We do not publish a client’s availability as though it were a club’s plan. We do not run puff pieces to raise a valuation, and we do not accept payment, in any form, for coverage of a player or a move; that rule sits alongside every other in our ownership and funding page. If you represent a player who has been misdescribed by us, use CORRECTION and you will get the fastest queue we have.

How quickly we answer

Correction reports are acknowledged the same day and are usually settled within one business day, faster where a scoreline, a suspension or a fee is affected. Tips are answered when we have a question to ask or a story to show you, and silence means we lacked capacity rather than interest. Press and advertising mail is dealt with inside a few business days. Privacy and copyright requests are acknowledged within two business days and completed inside the periods their policies set. If you have waited longer than that, send the message again with the same subject line. A lost email is far more likely than a deliberate snub.

Before you press send

Ordinary email is not private, which is the reason the confidential section above exists. Letters and comments offered for publication may be shortened or tidied, and we will tell you before your name appears anywhere. Correspondence is kept only while the matter it concerns is live, as our privacy policy explains, and nothing you write to us is added to a mailing list or passed to any club, league, agency or advertiser.
